CEO Kelly Speakes-Backman’s Statement on Nevada Energy’s Announced Energy Storage Additions
The U.S. Energy Storage Association (ESA) congratulates NV Energy on its recent plan to deploy nearly 600 MW of energy storage by 2023. This exciting announcement builds upon a nationwide trend in energy storage market growth. According to a recent report from ESA and Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables, Q1 2019 was the largest ever single quarter for U.S. energy storage deployments, with an ever-growing pipeline of projects in development, and this announcement will support that continued momentum. We especially applaud NV Energy for partnering with third parties in this effort, sending a strong signal for businesses to invest in energy storage in Nevada.
Over the past year, ESA has been working closely with Nevada lawmakers, regulators, and other stakeholders to ensure the state is able to stake a claim as a leader in energy storage. With this announcement, NV Energy is demonstrating its commitment to a more resilient, efficient, sustainable and affordable electricity grid.
