SUMMARY:The Clean Peak Standard: Coming Soon to a Docket Near You?
DESCRIPTION:A recording of this webinar is available for public viewing (below) \nThe Clean Peak Standard (CPS) has garnered significant interest among governors\, legislators and regulators across the country this year as an innovative policy solution to achieving a cleaner and more flexible electric grid. The CPS also presents a new opportunity for energy storage deployment. Join us in less than two weeks for an introduction to the CPS – coming soon to a legislative or regulatory docket near you… \nOn July 31\, the Massachusetts State House passed an energy omnibus bill that included the first-in-the-nation CPS program. Meanwhile\, Commissioner Tobin in Arizona proposed draft CPS regulations on July 5 that are currently being reviewed by the Arizona Corporation Commission. In both states\, several outstanding questions remain about the implementation of the CPS that could impact the overall efficacy of the program. In particular\, the methodology for calculating the baseline and treatment of energy storage systems could determine not only how big of an opportunity these programs provide for energy storage\, but also the overall greenhouse gas impact of the program. \nThis webinar compareed and contrasted the Massachusetts and Arizona CPS approach\, review the major components of CPS program design\, and outline next steps for program implementation. \nSpeakers: \n\nNitzan Goldberger; State Policy Director\, ESA\nLon Huber; Director\, Energy\, Navigant\n\n\n
